“NORA”
By Rekeaux Nyte
Her family needed the money so although she was only fourteen,
her ‘loving father’ sold her to a devil in a limousine.
He opened a bar and made her the star.
She was Bangkok’s hottest queen.
Her hair was black as coal, her skin the color of gold;
the moon turned dime when she smiled.
The body of a woman wrapped around the mind of a child.
She sat next to me and we talked for a while.After an hour or so of some serious, drinking she sweetly propositioned me.
I said, “Your price is too high!” and then she started to cry.
But I knew there was something more I couldn’t see.
That’s when she took me by the hand and softly whispered to me, she said;
“Rico, I don’t like the life that I live. I can’t take anymore, I’ve got nothing left to give.
I’m not supposed to leave for another year or two…
…but with a little help now, I can leave here with you.”I knew it was a big mess I was getting myself in,
but how could I deny that adorable grin…and eyes that burned a hole through my heart…
eyes that danced and sparkled, (hypnotizing me from the start)?
As we jumped in my car and slowly drove from the bar,
we were blocked by a limousine waiting; he had been apparently anticipating.
He had a cold dark stare, his bullets shot through the air. I found myself lying in intensive care…The next week when I finally opened my eyes, Great God, almighty!
I shouldn’t have been too, surprised… to see her face staring from the back page.
Under her picture, it read: ‘UNKNOWN GIRL FOUND DEAD!’
But it didn’t even mention her age.
I’ve learned to accept that some things aren’t to be,
but still I can’t forget those final words she said to me, she said;
“Rico, I don’t like the life I live. I can’t take anymore, I’ve got nothing left to give.
I’m not supposed to leave for another year or two…
(but with a little help now, I can leave here with you).”

Tragedy overcomes young and old alike. A beautiful story nearly always ends sadly.
